Flying Blue Promo Rewards: 25% off 46 cities, but Sep 7 is the real deadline.

The September Promo Rewards slice 25% off standard Flying Blue miles on 46 city pairs, including standout business-class redemptions like Minneapolis at 45,000 miles, Beijing at 63,750, and Santiago de Chile at 63,750. But book by September 7: on September 8 the promo pricing shifts to the Light fare category, which strips a checked bag in economy and lounge access in business. 14 of the 46 routes require a Flying Blue Extra subscription (from 379 EUR), so factor that cost into your math.

the play

Book your preferred Promo Reward by September 7 to lock in the current fare inclusions, and skip any route that requires Flying Blue Extra unless you can justify the 379 EUR subscription with multiple redemptions.

10k Flying Blue Bonus: Economy Booking Now Pays 40% of a One-Way Award

Flying Blue is offering 10,000 bonus miles on economy flights from the US to any Air France or KLM destination via Paris or Amsterdam. Book between August 19 and 31, travel by January 31, 2027. The flight must be marketed and operated by AF/KLM (no Delta-coded flights), and US residency is required. the play

Book an eligible economy flight on Air France or KLM from the US before August 31 to collect 10,000 bonus miles, then apply them toward a future award.

Flying Blue: Light Fares Keep Price, Strip Perks You Used to Get

Come Sept. 8, every Air France/KLM award search returns three tiers: Light, Standard, Flex. Light holds today's saver pricing (e.g., 60,000 miles CDG-JFK business) but drops lounge access, limits checked bags to zero in economy/premium economy, and blocks changes. Standard (75,000 miles on that route) matches current perks like one checked bag and a $75 change fee. Flex (110,000 miles) cuts surcharges in half but costs far more miles. Economy sees similar jumps—25,000-mile transatlantic awards become 30,000 for Standard. Elites with SkyTeam status keep benefits even on Light fares. A Citi ThankPoint transfer bonus of 20% runs through Aug. 22.

the play

Book any Flying Blue award before Sept. 8 to lock in today's included perks, and use Citi ThankPoints by Aug. 22 for an extra 20% bonus on transfers.

Flying Blue's Light award: 60k miles for less - no lounge, no changes.

Effective September 8, 2026, Flying Blue unbundles Air France and KLM award tickets into Light, Standard, and Flex fares. On CDG-JFK, Business Light costs 60,000 miles but drops lounge access, changeability, and includes only one checked bag. Business Standard at 75,000 miles restores those benefits. Elites retain lounge access even on Light fares. Partner awards and previously issued tickets are not affected. This is a clear devaluation: the same 60,000 miles now buys less.

the play

Book any Air France or KLM award before September 8, 2026, to lock in the current bundled benefits including lounge access and flexibility.

Flying Blue Light fares: same miles, no lounge, no refunds. Book before Sept 8.

Flying Blue introduces Light award fares for Air France and KLM redemptions effective 8 September 2026. Business Light holds at current pricing (e.g., 60,000 points + €527 Paris-New York one-way) but strips lounge access, seat selection, and refundability. Standard adds those back at 75,000 points + €527; Flex doubles miles but halves fees to 110,000 + €262. Non-elites lose benefits; elite members retain status perks on Light fares. Partner redemptions are unchanged.

the play

Book Air France or KLM business awards before 8 September 2026 to lock in current benefits, or shift to SkyTeam partner redemptions afterward.

KLM's free half-sandwich ends in October as buy-on-board takes over

KLM will replace its infamous free cheese-filled half-sandwich on European Economy flights with a buy-on-board service called Grand Café KLM, starting in October. Passengers will still receive a free stroopwafel and a choice of tea, coffee, water, or orange juice. After that, a cart will offer items for purchase, including a salmon egg wrap, yogurt with fruit and seeds, and pre-order options like poke bowls and Caesar salads. KLM says the move, tested for over a year, is about offering more choice, but it also aims to shore up lagging financial performance. Only Air France and ITA Airways remain among major European full-service carriers still providing free snacks and drinks in short-haul Economy.

the play

Book a KLM European flight before October to enjoy the free half-sandwich one last time, or plan to pre-order a meal if you want a hot option under the new buy-on-board model.
